Heritage Project

The 'Back in The Day' heritage project take place in Nuneaton, and give reVOLve volunteers the opportunity to find out about the history and tradition of the towns and villages in the region.

Funded by the Young Roots Heritage Lottery Grants programme, the project aims to research what work and entertainment was like in the 1940s and 50s in Nuneaton and Atherstone.

Young people get the chance to meet people who lived in decades gone by, and interview them and see items from their past to educate the younger generations to how they used to live.

reVOLve aims to produce displays and an oral CD that will be donated to Nuneaton Heritage Centre, local libraries and schools at the end of the activity showcasing the results of the volunteers work.

Take a look at the examples of reVOLve members working with people from the community in order to gauge a feel of the activity, there are pictures and a sound clip from an interview with Nuneaton resident Geoff Hextall who is talking about going to the cinemas when he was a boy.
